Jong Bhak's research is to understand and model the whole process of life.

I am interested in every aspect of life. I want to simulate it completely (100%) using computers to solve practical problems such as aging(anti-aging) and disease eradication.

Jong's pratical research areas include a broad range of Bioinformatics.
I have been trained to process biological experimental data by computers. My Ph.D. thesis was on analyzing genomes.

My main biological interest is aging. I eventually develop anti-aging methods.

My current research topics are:

1. Genome analysis
Whole genome sequencing and analysis. I led a team of Korean researchers to analyze Solexa sequencer produced data. It was the first in Korea.

2. SNP analysis
Genome wide SNP analysis
I am currently interested in SNP analysis (Variome Project)

3. Liveromics (analyzing liver cancer microarray and mass spec. data)
I have been leading the bioinformatics team who analyze a large scale liver cancer microarray data.

4. Geronto-genomics
I have been interested in analyzing mitochondrial functions on aging process. We have been analyzing the difference of gene expression between rho-0 and cybrid cells.

5. Structural bioinformatics.
I have been doing research on structural bioinformatics. It includes structure prediction of proteins.

6. Interactomics.
From 1999, I have been analyzing protein-protein interaction data. See http://psimap.com.
